Eli Manning, currently one of the most intimidating quarterbacks on the NFL field, finally tied the knot with his long-time girlfriend, Abby McGrew, just last weekend. The two met during Manning’s college years at Ole Miss and instantly hit it off. After graduation, their relationship continued to go strong despite the fact that their occupational goals followed two very separate paths.

As Manning pursued a career on the offensive line of the New York Giants, McGrew followed her heart for Manning and fashion to the Big Apple. Within a few short months both were prospering in their own element while still providing a firm support system for the other. In 2007 during a seemingly typical date in Hoboken, Manning got down on one knee - this time, instead of ball in hand, it was a show-stopping diamond that took McGrew’s breath away.

The no-frills proposal was casual and private, conveying Manning’s easy-going and uncomplicated nature. The wedding was no different; the couple said their vows in front of 60 of their closest friends and family on the Cabo San Lucas beach. According to the minister, the romantic ceremony was “one of the most beautiful I have ever presided over.” Among the wedding guests were Manning’s famous brothers, Cooper and Peyton, as well as McGrew’s sister who fulfilled her duty as the maid of honor.

A week before the big day, Manning and McGrew were spotted at the Manhattan Municipal Building picking up their marriage license. When questioned about the wedding details, McGrew’s family was adamant about keeping the event under wraps. “It’s toward the end of April. It’s private,” McGrew’s father stated to a news reporter.

While the wedding was very intimate, McGrew still sought a professional bridal consultant to help her with all of the preparations. The consultant planned the entire Mexican wedding from her office in Nashville, TX in less than a few months. When asked about the wedding, she said, “Everything in their lives is so big, I think that they wanted this wedding to be really small and elegant and intimate.”

Manning prepared for the wedding as he would any other football game. An insider commented that Manning spent a lot of time in the gym working out in order to combat pre-wedding jitters. He was “running furiously on the treadmill, lifting weights and doing push-ups for an hour and a half.” After working up a sweat, Manning headed down to the pool to relax with friends and family.
