After months of planning, Ashley Simpson and Pete Wentz finally tied the knot in an eclectic rockstar wedding. The reception hall was filled with 10,000 black roses, and the tables were decked out in red and black décor and topped with crystal chandeliers. Although the couple was going for the hardcore rocker fantasy, Ashley brought some elegance to the event with a cathedral-style veil which hung to the floor, William Noble jewelry, and a custom-made ivory lace Monique Lhuillier gown. Wentz, 28, told People Magazine that she “looked like a girl right out of a movie.”
150 friends and family were invited to witness the first Simpson wedding which took place at Ashley’s parent’s home in Los Angeles. Joe Simpson, Jessica and Ashley’s father, conducted the non-denominational ceremony and Jessica stood by as the maid of honor. For lack of an appropriate ring-bearer, Wentz had his bulldog, Hemingway, play the part.
Simpson confesses that she was never the type of girl to daydream about her wedding until Wentz popped the question. “Now that I’m doing it, I definitely have that big dream,” she states to People. “It kind of went more fairytale than I thought. I got really into it.” Wentz says that Simpson has a real knack for planning and made both of their wedding fantasies come true. “She has this amazing imagination and to watch it take place is an awesome thing.”
Simpson brought rock-and-roll and Alice in Wonderland together with help from wedding planner, Mindy Weiss. The wedding cake was a teapot, stop watch and pot of flowers, and was created for her by celebrity cakemaker, Sam Godfrey of Perfect Endings. The black rose centerpieces were assembled by Mark’s Garden. Before sitting down for dinner, guests were served Rose Veuve Clicquot champagne, and music was ironically played by a hired DJ.
There are already rumors that Simpson is pregnant with Wentz’ baby. While this may just be hearsay, Simpson has outwardly admitted that she is eager to start a family of her own. When asked about Wentz, Simpson said, “He’s a cutie. He has an awesome personality and kind of brings out the best of me and I knew that even before we were dating. There was like an awesome connection we had.” A year later, Simpson said that all initial excitement had long since passed. “We’re past the honeymoon period. The truth is, it’s crazy to be able to kiss your best friend. It’s just really an awesome thing.”
