Despite the last few years of post-marriage war between exes Denise Richards and Charlie Sheen, the two have finally managed to reach neutral territory just in time for Sheen’s wedding. The 42-year-old actor, who allegedly emotionally and physically abused Richards during their messy marriage, finally tied the knot with girlfriend Brooke Mueller who he has been dating for almost 2 years.
The happy couple exchanged their vows in front of 60 of their closest friends and family in a private Los Angeles estate on May 30th. Grey’s Anatomy stars Rebecca Gayheart and Eric Dane, the two responsible for introducing Sheen and Mueller last year, were appropriately present at the nuptials. While Richards was not on the guest list, she did give the couple her blessing by prudently sending a wedding gift with her children who were attending the happy affair.
An insider reveals that the small wedding was Sheen’s idea; Mueller naturally wanted something with a little more pizzazz. Sheen’s desire for a small ceremony has much to do with the fact that this is the third time he’s walking down the aisle - not to mention that this is the seventh serious relationship he’s been involved in. For Mueller, the wedding was a first, and of course, she couldn’t help but want the fantasy wedding with all the bells and whistles. The two ended up compromising in Sheen’s favor; however, the bride still went all out in a Reem Acra wedding gown.
Sheen proposed to Mueller in Costa Rica last June with a $500,000 11-karat yellow diamond ring designed personally by jeweler Lord Alon Barak. They waited almost a year to the day to tie the knot, just to ensure that their small private wedding was picture perfect. Instead of gifts, the couple asked the guests to donate money to the Chrysalis: Changing Lives Through Jobs charity and to Pugs N’ Pals.
Although Sheen already has 3 daughters, Sam, Lola and Cassandra, with two other women, Mueller is adamant about starting her own family and hopes to get pregnant very soon.
