Selecting the girls to serve as your ever-faithful bridesmaids is easier said than done.
There are so many wonderful people to choose from and you love them all for various reasons. Be sure that you choose all related females first before taking from the friend pool. Leaving out a sister would be unacceptable! If you're on good terms with your fiance's sister/s, think about including them as well. Wedding etiquette doesn't necessitate that you do so, but it would be a wonderful gesture and would bring everyone that much closer together. It positively implies that you and the groom already consider one another family. If you decide to not do this based on unfamiliarity between yourself and the groom's sisters, don't feel bad! The bridesmaids should be the people who are closest to the bride; they are after all, going to be the ones to plan your bridal shower, help you with wedding preparations, and assist in getting ready on the big day.
Once you select your group, next comes the Philadelphia bridesmaids dresses. This can only be approached if you already know what colors you're going to be incorporating in the wedding; the dresses of the bridal party must coordinate with the theme. This is not mandatory, but you'll have a very eclectic event if the bridal party is mismatching. Even if you're trying to add some personality and uniqueness to the ceremonials, you still want the wedding to be visually aesthetic. During the ceremony and reception all guest's eyes will be drawn to the bridal party. Think of them as your main wedding décor; they should harmonize with the other ornaments and perfectly accent the bride and groom.
Having said that, you can be a little creative with the Philadelphia bridesmaids dresses and flower bouquets. If you want to choose light-colored pastel gowns and a brightly arranged bouquet, the contrast could make for a wonderful presentation. You don't want the colors to be so vibrant that they drown out you and the rest of the wedding, so be a strategic and smart shopper.
When setting out to find bridesmaid's dresses, it's essential that you keep your bridesmaids involved. Not only are these ensembles going to be worn on your group of girls, it's customary that they pay for their own wedding dress. Which ultimately means that it would be tactless to not consider their opinions. If you're set out on a certain color, then they really can't dispute this with you – the color theme of your wedding is your choice and yours alone. However, when shopping around Philadelphia for the cut and shape of a dress, you need to be attentive to each individual bridesmaid.
If you're bridesmaids range in size, an a-line or princess style dress would be the best choice. This kind of cut is complimentary to all shapes and will make all your girls feel beautiful. However, if you have a pregnant bridesmaid, this would not be very flattering. If most of your bridesmaids are somewhat short and petite and or you have a pregnant bridesmaid in tow, the empire waisted dress would be a superior option. It will add height to those shorter girls and help conceal the bulging belly of your girlfriend. This alternative is not very becoming on girls with a bustier chest, so you may have to weigh the pros and cons on this one.
For bridesmaids who are all in the median range between petite and large, think about going with ball-gowns. These look great on girls with larger upper torsos and will make your average bridesmaids extraordinary. If you don't want them to outshine your own bouffant look in formal ball-gowns then think about putting this same group of girls in sheath-style dresses. This is a more clingy and straight-lined dress but looks fabulous and extremely elegant.
Overall, bridesmaids have a lot of responsibilities in regard to the bride and wedding. Hopefully the girls you end up selecting are organized and highly conscientious as these traits will pay off for you in the long run. If you have flighty and impetuous gals serving as your bridal party, well, at least you'll have an exciting and interesting bachelorette party! Be thoughtful to their needs and make sure that they accompany you on your Philadelphia bridesmaid dress search. This is the time to put your heads together and come up with a plan that will make your wedding the eye-candy that you want it to be!
