Themes, Hints, and Tips for Fun and Unusual Bridal Shower Ideas

If you are planning to throw a bridal shower, you're maybe looking for some novel ideas to make it a special occasion. Here are some novel themes to inspire you & help you throw a fun party.

Traditional Bridal Shower Ideas

The traditional shower doesn't involve a theme & is really an opportunity for the bride & her friends to get together, have a drink, play games or watch wedding movies!

Invitations: There is a good choice of bridal shower invites available. Most include a drawing of the bride or another wedding related picture.

Decorations: Go to town with balloons, paper bells, a guest-of-honor chair for the bride & flower arrangements.

Activity: Play some bridal shower games, watch movies or simply watch the birde opening her presents!

Food: Go for light snacks, petit fours, hors d'oeuvres or even just pizza! If you are holding your shower during the day choose a light lunch or tea party.

Gifts: These can be anything of the guests choosing, but for inspiration look at the gift registry.

Spa Bridal Shower Ideas

Invitations: You can use the traditional style ones or look for spa themed ones.

Decorations: Locate your shower at a spa or salon. If that isn't possible then provide towels, a range of products, provide some relaxing music & lots of scented candles to create a relaxing atmosphere.

Activities: A spa shower is a chance for some pampering. Give each other manicures &/or pedicures. Buy in a range of nail polishes in various colors, have a face mask, foot soak & even leg wax! Ask your guests to come prepared & dressed in lounging pyjamas.

Food: Serve up finger food & easy to eat snacks, remember you will need to be able to pick them up with wet nails or eat them with a face mask on!

Gifts: As it is a spa shower, then the gifts should revolve around relaxation. Ask your guests to bring something for the bride & groom to relax. You could also book spa sessions or give them vouchers for a salon.



Chocolate Party

The ultimate shower for a chocoholic! Who could resist an indulgent chocolate themed bridal shower?

Invitations: Go for invites with a chocolate theme or opt for a brown color scheme.

Activity: Set up a chocolate fountain or fondue with marshmallows, fruits & macaroons to dip in. Or have a chocolate tasting with a selection of different chocolates, truffles & desserts. Ask your guests to taste them & give them marks out of ten. You could even make up some worksheets to record the results on.

Gifts: A selection of tools fro making candy, cakes or baking is a good idea or anything chocolate related.

Musical Shower Ideas

This is a shower for the outgoing bride with a big personality! A music shower should be fun & lively.

Activity: Ultimately it has to be Karaoke. This is just the right acitivty to get everyone involved & have some fun. You can rent karaoke machines for a reasonable price or you may have one already or know someone who does. Failing that you could book a room at a karaoke bar for even more fun! If you want to play games try this one: ask each guests to tell you the name of the first album they ever bought, then at the shower get each guest to try to match the album to the person. Give a prize to the person who gets the most right.

Invitations: As this is a casual affair send internet invites such as those found on evite. If you want to send paper versions pick ones with a musical theme.

Gifts: Keep with the music theme & get each guest to make a CD of favorite tracks. Or chip in together & buy her an ipod or MP3 player. You could load it with some of your favorite songs.
