Your stationery is your guest’s first indication as to the type of wedding you will be having. So make it clear from the start that you are intending to marry on foreign shores with custom made destination wedding invitations and stationery.
With a destination wedding save the date cards are a must as the sooner you let your guests know of your wedding date the better. They will appreciate having plenty of time to book flights and accommodation and moreover save up the money to be able to afford to join you. So why not have them printed in the form of passports or onto map designed paper?
When it comes to the invitations themselves you need to think beyond traditional wedding invites. Because there is a lot more planning involved with a destination wedding, for both you and your guests, it is a good idea to include as much information as possible with your invitations to help them find flights and accommodation.
Wedding invitations designed for inclusions would normally be considered a luxury for a traditional ‘at home’ wedding, but with a destination wedding they become something of a must have. Although expensive, because you will likely save money by going abroad, you can justify the expense. Why not have your invitations made with pictures of your destination on them to up the excitement factor and give your guests a glimpse of what they will be enjoying? Just remember they are wedding invitations, not tourist guides!
So what do you need to include with your destination wedding invitations? Aside from the date, place and time, include information about the resort you will staying at including web addresses and contact information. Include information on other accommodation options as well in case your hotel is fully booked. Add in information about travel options, i.e flights and transfers, as well as travel companies and tour operators offering packages to your destination.
If you have planned an itinerary for the days up to the wedding day then include that as well so your guests know you will want them around and not to plan or book anything for themselves. Do let your guests know about things like vaccinations and visa requirements to help speed up their booking process, as well as customs guidelines on what they can and cannot bring into the country.
Finally a wedding website is a great idea for a destination wedding and provides you with the means of putting out even more information for your guests, as well as keeping them up to date with the wedding planning.
