What to Eat for All-day Energy
By Georgina Clatworthy
Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, & whilst nerves may be getting the better of you, you have to eat something to keep you going till you get the wedding reception. Here are some suggestions for a healthy nutritious breakfast which won't bloat you out & will keep looking & feeling at your best.
Try a breakfast of yogurt, fruit & a handful of oats. Oats are perfect as the release energy slowly, whilst the fruit & yogurt contain water which will keep you hydrated.
A breakfast of muesli, nuts, seeds & fresh berries will help prevent bloating & mood swings as they contain complex carbohydrates & protein which will stabilize your blood sugar levels. If you need extra help to stay calm & chilled try a cup of chamomile tea.
A combination of protein & unrefined carbohydrates will help control your blood sugar levels & keep you from feeling light headed, lethargic or dizzy. It will also help your mood & stress levels. Try two poached eggs on wholemeal toast with a grilled tomato.
As it is likely to be a long day you are going to need to fill up on something which will keep your energy levels up. Go for a high fiber breakfast cereal with some fresh fruit. Keeping you fluids up is also important so add a glass of water of fruit juice.
Porridge is a great breakfast as it will give you a slow release of energy though out the wedding day & it won't bloat you either so you will still look your best.
Remember, the most important thing is to eat something so as to prevent your blood sugar levels dropping too low & causing you to feel lethargic or dizzy. It could be a long time before you sit down to that reception meal!
