Tips For Choosing Your Reception Music

By Georgina Clatworthy

The key to choosing the right reception music is to choose music which matches your personalities & your wedding theme. However, before you get too carried away, consider what your guests would like too - an endless night of thrash metal music may not entertain all present!

If you busy considering your options here are some tips to help you make the right choice.

A Live Act

This could mean anything from a live band to belly dancers. Choose a band which are happy to play a mixture of old & modern songs. Another alternative is to hire a tribute band, imagine The Beatles playing at your wedding! Live acts are varied & you may want to hire a couple to keep the guest entertained throughout the afternoon & evening. Consider dancers, magicians & singers.

Discos

Ask around for recommendations on a good DJ & don't just hire anyone. A good DJ will provide a great show & play a great range of songs, not just the typical wedding tunes! Arrange to meet with them before the big day & discuss your requirements & the playlist. Ask what equipment they have, including lights & other effects.

Hire a Classical Act

Add a touch of sophistication with a classical pianist, harpist or string quartet. A classical would be particularly nice during the reception meal & will help create a special atmosphere during your event. You may even consider an operatic act for a really high class evening.
