A quick flick through one of the latest wedding magazines reveals that wedding dress trends appear to have made a u-turn from the more structured dresses we saw last season. Now wedding dresses have turned to more retro inspiration with a romantic twist and style house Biba is leading the way.

I must say I love the new season trends for wedding dresses. Now wedding dresses look more wearable and suited to every figure. Last seasons dresses were so tight fitting, so structured you wondered how anyone above a size zero could ever hope to pull one off successfully, nevermind even be able to walk in some of them! So I was both inspired and delighted by the photo shoots presented in the magazine this month.

The 1970s is seemingly the main driving force for this seasons collections and Biba is proving why it is a label that is making a big comeback. They have released a collection of stunningly simple dresses in soft floaty fabrics and minimal detailing. No fabric ‘origami’ or heavy crystal beading, but instead sublimely elegant dresses that would suit any style of wedding.

Flowers are a big trend this season and many dresses feature fabric flowers on the bodices and straps. Some a bit frilly for my taste, but they do create a romantic look and are perfect for brides looking for that classic bridal look. An alternative is to choose a plain dress and wear large floral corsages in your hair.

Short dresses are proving ever so popular for all types of wedding. If you want to create a whimsical look or simply do not want the fuss of a full length wedding dress then you will find no shortage of short and kneed length dresses to choose from. This is one of those trends that has been building for a few years now and they make a great choice for destination weddings to hot climates.

Whilst flowers are one of this years key details, bows are also popular and feature on both dresses and accessories. Big bows can be found on bodices and of course on sashes. But they also feature heavily on hair accessories and the retro inspired bird cage veils.

Grecian inspired wedding dress has been one of the key trends for a few seasons and it is a look that doesn’t show any sign of abating. Spring collections feature many designs with classic Grecian styling helping to create stunningly pretty and romantic dresses. On top of this last years lace and ruffles are also in abundance creating frivolous and elegant gowns!
