• Heavenly Honeymoons On A Budget

The honeymoon is as special for most couples as the wedding itself. But when you have a tight budget (or even a casual one) and you have spent a lot on the actual wedding, it can be hard finding a way to honeymoon without having to really pay for it later.

Thankfully, there are some ways you can cut down the cost of your trip, or just limit what you spend.

      Honeymoon Registry

You are seeing these a lot more often these days. They can be risky, because you have to make certain purchases beforehand, and then recoup your costs when the gifts start coming in. But if the issue is that you are just wanting to eliminate some of your final costs, it can be a big help.

Instead of setting a traditional gift registry, set up one of these funds through a site like Honeyfund or Honeymoon Wishes. These allow people to go and buy or out money into certain aspects of the honeymoon.

So, say you have your airline tickets, you would secure the tickets, but then people could recoup the loss by giving donations toward it.

Or, they could pay money in toward the hotel, or even an all inclusive package. Or just give for extras, such as food and entertainment. If 20 guests pay just $40, which is an average amount for a gift on a registry, it would reduce $800 off of your honeymoon.

      Go Off Season

It is amazing how much the cost of a trip can be cut if you just go during the off season. Tickets cost less, hotels have better rooms for less money, and there are special deals all over cities for restaurants, theaters and more.

Most travel sites and trip bookers will have a page on the best off season locations and deals. Be sure to check them out before you book. Even if it means waiting on the honeymoon a few months, it can really take away some of the burden.

      Try All Inclusive

All inclusive trips have their draw backs for the spontaneous couple. But the price difference is amazing, sometimes offering the same vacation for as much as half off. Plenty of resorts and cruises have this option, at high-profile locations like Paris, New York, San Diego, The Bahamas and more.

      Wait Until The Last Minute

It sounds like a risk, but booking at the last minute for whatever is available can be an easy way to get a huge discount on a travel package. It takes flexibility on your part, but I have seen packages as much as 70% off as hotels, airports and entertainment venues attempt to catch some profit on a package that would otherwise go unfilled.

      Go To A Small Town

A month ago, my husband and I went for our anniversary to Lava Hotsprings, Idaho. It is a tiny little tourist town, based totally around the naturally occurring mineral hotsprings in the area. We spent two days without barring any expense on less than $400, which included travel and accommodations in a gorgeous little hotel with a bathtub big enough for four people.

This is a great option for honeymooners, who can find excellent opportunities for a romantic getaway in little towns in their nearby area.
