How would you describe this style of wedding photos to a photographer?

I came across these most beautiful shots of a Bali wedding. (Scroll down a bit to see them all.) They are gorgeous! What I particularly like about them is that they are casual but structured, some more formal than others, and they capture them getting ready for the wedding too.

Is there a name for this type of wedding photography? And what a stunning bride. Loved the dress and the veil.

I don't know if there's a name for that style. I do know that I would really like shots like that that span the entire day. I'm not sure about wanting a photographer underfoot but I love the pictures.

Photojournalistic perhaps? This description of that style of wedding photography I think fits the Bali wedding. There are more styles in the article.

Photojournalistic. The purpose of this style is to tell your wedding story in a creative, narrative fashion, much like looking through a magazine or newspaper with a focus on all the elements of the wedding, including behind the scenes. The photos might capture you prepping at home with your bridesmaids, or depict shots of special details, such as the ceremony altar, the rings, your floral centerpieces, and the “Just Married” sign on the back of your getaway car. Mandy’s photographer used a journalistic style to capture Mike and his Rat Pack walking over those all-important train tracks. They were all about telling a story; therefore this style was an easy fit.

That's certainly something to think about for the wedding. I like that the photojournalistic shots are so much more natural looking. When I look at family wedding albums I can't help but think how stiff and formal they look.
"Raising a family is difficult enough. But it’s even more difficult for single parents struggling to make ends meet. They don’t need more obstacles. They need more opportunities.” - Bill Richardson.

My mom would agree with that!

I would prefer a less contrived set of photographs too. This photojournalistic style appeals to me because I don't want goofy shots either that will make me cringe with embarrassment in ten years. It tells the story beautifully. Those Bali shots are amazing!

    photojournalistic or candid reportative

These are very common now amd most wedding photographers shoukd be able to provide this for you although its good to consider including some formal portraits for.the future. Kids and grandkids etc

Reportage is the buzz word..... And most togs should offer you a mix of reportage and formal.

I would say it is called photojournalistic. Instead of trying to get your photographer to shoot in a certain style, you should find a photographer who's style you love, and trust them to photograph your wedding in that style. Giving your photographer a few ideas for photos you would like to get is good, expecting them to replicate the style of another photographer is a recipe for disaster.

He said everything. I viewed the link and I can say that it's very refreshing to see those pictures of the wedding. If ever your looking for photographers who can do that for you then I would say you can check the links on my signature.
